In April 2025, Crescent Estates purchased the former church property located on the east corner of the intersection of Walnut Hill Lane and Betty Jane Lane. The vacant property is L-shaped around the Primera Iglesia Dallas church, which is at the corner and not part of this development proposal. On May 30, 2025, notices for a proposed zoning change were posted on the property, which is currently zoned R-16.
Crescent Estates held a community meeting at the Walnut Hill Recreation Center on June 26, 2025 to present and discuss their proposed for the site. After getting feedback from the neighbors in that meeting, Crescent Estates received a comment letter from Dallas City Planning in the last week of June 2025. In response to the comments from City Planning and from the neighbors at the June 26 neighborhood meeting, Crescent Estates made modifications to their proposed plan.
Upon request of the Councilperson for our area, the WHHA Board held a neighborhood meeting on July 24, 2025 to gather neighbor feedback on the most current version of the development proposal after the modifications were made. The Councilperson asked WHHA to summarize the neighbor comments and feedback and to identify what the neighbors wanted. The WHHA Board produced a letter with all the feedback and suggestions gathered at the meeting and sent it to the Councilperson, the District 13 Plan Commissioner, and the developer, Crescent Estates, on Tuesday morning, July 29, 2025.
